Zafar Khan Ghazi Mosque and Dargah

Zafar Khan Ghazi Mosque and Dargah

The Dargah , built in 1315 AD in his memory after the death of Zafar Khan Ghazi, is the oldest surviving mausoleum in eastern India. The dargah has no roof and is divided into two rooms. There are a total of eight graves, four by four in two rooms. The mosque was formerly used as a madrasa. The main prayer ground of the mosque had five arches. The inside of the mosque was divided into two parts with lovely carved pillars.

Rinchenpong Sightseeing

As soon as I closed the door and stood on the balcony, I was greeted by clouds like smoke floating in the frosty air. Leaving no stone unturned in their hospitality, several of them without any hesitation freely floated inside my room through the open door of my balcony and the window beside it. Quite a dreamy environment.

Gangani Grand Canyon of West Bengal

Gangani Grand Canyon of West Bengal

Glancing the canyon at the sweet light of dawn, I understood why it is called Mini Grand Canyon or Grand Canyon of West Bengal. This canyon is 70 feet deep. Shilabati river is flowing through the bottom. The canyon is the result of natural erosion and hailstones over the years. It is as if some artist has carved on the ditch and carved each sculpture on the stone with his hammer in some deep artistic sense.

Simultala Tourist Spot

Spending a lot of time with Dharara, its now about 7am in the morning. In the light of day, I found the fragmented  pictures of my subconscious mind have started to take a complete shape already. The Shiva temple in the barren land , the plateau and the palm trees scattered randomly over it and the dry barren lands with the harshness of winter…all resembled those fragmented picture.

Hike from Dochula Pass to Lungchutse Lakhang

Hike from Dochula Pass to Lungchutse Lakhang

We were fortunate enough that there were no rainfall, though the sky was cloudy and so were the peaks beside Dochula. It's really easy to find the yak trail from Dochula to Lungchutse. One has to cross the War Memorial of Dochula pass and proceed towards Lobesa. Just after 200 meter one wooden board would be visible at the right side of the highway and some staircase like muddy way with wooden border would be found.

Devkund Waterfall Odisha

The journey ends somewhere and you would be spellbound to see that river Nalabha has jumped from a height like a restless little girl and created a pool. On the uphill you'd find a small temple. As per Hindu mythology, while the Sudarshana Chakra fragmented the body of Sati, the first wife of Lord Shive, her left ankle fell here and since then it has been a sacred place for Hindus.

Bhastara Rajbari

Bhastara Rajbari

April 20, 2021. I boarded the Burdwan local (cord line) from Howrah at 11.22 am. The train is quite empty so I was able to take the window side seat as per my choice effortlessly. After leaving Dankuni, the outside scene began to put on color. That color is of great satisfaction. That color is of beautiful greenery. That color swipes the mind from the balance sheet of life to an altogether different world.

Raimatang Tourist Spot

Raimatang Tourist Spot

The only way to reach Raimatang village is through the river bed of this river. In the months of monsoons, the river becomes very aggressive and the village of Raimatang gets completely cut off from road connection. Before the monsoon, the villagers store the rations for a few months at home. The river bed is full of with silvery pebbles. Going a little farther my auto suddenly stopped.
